James and His Animals

James loved animals of all kinds. He loved the furry ones, the slimy ones, creepy crawly ones, and the ones who swam in the water.

Every Sunday, his Dad and he would take a ride to go fishing at a lake in a very wooded area a few miles from home. On the way to the lake, they would always stop for James's favorite foods......like fried chicken, curly fries, homemade biscuits and jam with orangeade . They packed it all in a brown picnic basket with a red and white cloth to spread out when they were ready to eat. James looked foward to this day!

Finally, they arrived at the lake. It was time to take out the fishing poles and put a slimy one onto the hook for the fish to bit. James raised his arm , pulled back and SLAM! his line fell into the water. He waited awhile. Then he felt something pull. The fishing pole started to shake, pull some more and bend. James jumped for joy! His Dad called out,"Reel her in!" James pulled with all his might and sure enough, there it was. The biggest fish he had ever caught!

At last, it was time for lunch. Out came the red and white cloth, the food, the creepy crawly ones, and the furry ones. James didn't mind, he just ate his lunch and shared. After lunch, James and his Dad packed up the basket, their fishing poles and the fish James caught. For it was time to head on home. As they drove home, James thought about the fun they had and thought Sunday will come again.

My parents always took us for a Sunday ride on back roads, stopping at small family run stores to buy lunchmeat, bread and whatever else caught our eyes for a picnic somewhere along the way!

Your stories are so vibrant. I loved walking with James through his day.

Sunday's at our house always meant church and back home for some goood eating.

Great ending, my friend. :-)
